Above average Kirkland, WA
Kirkland is a visually stunning city on Lake Washington's shore with panoramic views of Mount Rainier and the Seattle skyline. The residents take pride in their family-friendly and community-oriented town, boasting excellent schools and job opportunities. Though the waterfront lifestyle comes at a premium, with the average 1-bedroom rental nearing $2,000 and median home sale prices exceeding $1 million, the region offers high-paying jobs, resulting in a median household income of around $130,000, which is above average. The town's biggest employer is Evergreen Health, a healthcare system with two hospitals. Additionally, newer companies such as Echodyne, Chainguard, and Rain City Capital call Kirkland their home, and the neighboring town of Redmond houses the headquarters of Microsoft and Nintendo's American operations. The job market is expected to grow by more than 10% in the coming years.

3 suspects arrested for killing a Teen in Kirkland
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a teenager at a Kirkland park last year. Two juvenile males and an adult male were taken into custody early Wednesday after an investigation linked them to the killing of 18-year-old Cyrus Mason at Houghton Beach Park on Sept. 16, 2020. Investigators say Mason was shot during a "firearms transaction" at the park, and the three suspects fled after the shooting. They were later identified during an extensive investigation. All three suspects are now booked into the King County Jail for first-degree murder, but their names and ages were not immediately released. Mason, the victim, had been painting buildings for Microsoft. The mother says her son was kind, loving, and eager to change the world. It's so sad! Read more.
